The 83rd EAGE Annual Conference and Exhibition 2022 took place in Madrid, Spain from 6th to 10th of June. The EAGE is one of the leading global professional geophysical associations for Geoscientists and Engineers. International Association of
Engineering Geology (IAEG) and the Young Engineering Geologists (YEG) have participated with an on-site booth in the exhibition zone during the 4 exhibition days. The theme EAGE dedicated to this edition is “Leading Geosciences into a New Era”, meant to be the catalyst for the development of the future of energy and address how the geoscience community can tackle the Energy Transition in order to meet the climate goals. During the conference and exhibition, strong networking with key companies in the industry and fruitful discussions with young students interested in joining our community took place. Relevant companies showed interesting in participating in future IAEG events with the respective booth opportunities. Engineering Geology was one of the main cores of future geoengineering sustainability as it was presented also during the conference. By sharing experiences and transferring know-hows – we can grow as a community. Official meetings with EAGE Official
committee members and ex officio group coordinators have been held with YEG Chair, Dr. Stratis Karantanellis to pronounce that fresh actions in collaboration with sister societies will be held on the following months. IAEG and YEG had renewed their participation for the next year EAGE conference in Vienna in June 2023. Until then we hope to meet you in one of our upcoming IAEG events.
