Shaoxing International Forum is a high level series forum by invitation on Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology, hosted by Shaoxing University, with over 8 sponsorship of IAEG、ISRM、NSFC、CSRME、ENGEO、International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences、Journal of Rock Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering and Key Laboratory of Rock Mechanics and Geohazards of Zhejiang Province. Through attracting and inviting top scientists, well-known experts, scholars and technical consultants around the world, the forum is focusing on fundamental innovation of theory and technology in Geo-Engineering industry and aiming at promoting the international academic exchange and collaboration in Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology. The 1st SXFRG was held in Shaoxing University on Oct 28-30, 2017, with a topic on Rock Mechanical and Engineering Geological issues along the B&R.
The 2nd SXFRG is focusing on New Technologies in Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, gathering 112 special guests from 12 countries such as USA、Germany、Australia、Greece、Japan、Korea、India、Argentina、China mainland and Hong Kong SAR and about 400 participants home and abroad. IAEG President Prof. Rafig Azzam、 Secretary General Prof. Faquan Wu、VP for Europe Dr. Vasilis Marinos、VP for Asia Prof. Bo-An Jang and Prof. Huiming Tang、Past VP for South America Prof. Silvina Marfil、IAEG C37 Landslide Nomenclature Chair Prof. Hengxing Lan and C38 Rockmass Characterization with Emphasis in Rock Slope Hazards Chair Dr. Haris SAROGLOU were invited to attend the forum.
On the forum, the 4 keynote lectures focused on seismic geological hazards, engineering geological testing, geological engineering and rock stability mechanism and control technology. And the 12 invited lectures were mainly about the new technology of rock mechanics and engineering geology, the engineering geology problem of landslide and deep buried tunnel, the geological environment monitoring and protection technology, as well as the new technology development in large-scale engineering construction and other hot issues.
Leading by Engineering Geology Commission, China Geological Society (China National Group of IAEG) and Standardized Geo-Survey Committee of China Railway Society, jointly sponsored by more than 28 well-known enterprises, universities and research institutes in China, after analyzing about the technical development status of geological engineering survey industry, the 2nd SXFRG published the Shaoxing Announcement – Proposal for Technological Innovation in GeoEng, promoting the technical cooperation and exchange, R&D platform, technical appraisal and exhibition of the products, and establishment and implementation of related technical standards.
After the forum, participants went to POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited in Hangzhou to visit the “Digital Engineering and Smart City” exhibition. The digital and intelligent prospect of geological engineering and urban construction aroused great interest of participants.
