The Engineering Geomechanics for Rock Mass (EGRM) has been officially established as a subsidiary body under the framework of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG). EGRM will serve as a global platform to foster the integration of geological and mechanical sciences, addressing key challenges in modern engineering and construction.
With a mission to enhance the understanding of geological mass properties, the EGRM aims to promote the development of innovative theories, technologies, and methodologies in engineering geomechanics. It will prioritize the establishment of intelligent evaluation frameworks, rapid testing techniques, and robust analytical tools to meet the growing demands of large-scale construction projects worldwide.

The main objectives and tasks of the commission are as follows:

  • Develop the theory of engineering geomechanics based on statistical analysis of geological mass
    structures, and enhance the integration of theory with practical applications in rock mass engineering.
  • Summarize research achievements in the statistical characteristics of structural planes,
    promoting the development of theories on structural control in rock mass.
  • Propose methods for the rapid analysis and acquisition of geological mass heterogeneity and
    anisotropy.
  • Advance techniques for the fast identification of geological mass structural parameters and the
    rapid testing of rock mechanical parameters, establishing a comprehensive, quick, and convenient
    testing system for rock mass properties.
  • Introduce theoretical methods for calculating geological mass mechanical parameters, and
    establish a system for evaluating and classifying the anisotropy of geological mass quality.
  • Develop a software platform for analyzing geological mass properties based on engineering
    geomechanics.
  • Promote academic exchange in the field of engineering geomechanics, encouraging the sharing
    of research outcomes.
  • Facilitate the international dissemination
