The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has recently appointed, as new Scientific and Technological Attaché in the Italian Embassy in Cairo (Egypt), the Engineering Geologist Claudio Margottini, member of IAEG Italy and responsible for coordination and development of the international activities at ISPRA, Dpt. Geological Survey of Italy.
Degree cum laude in Geological Sciences at La Sapienza University of Rome in 1979, during his career he was involved in many worldwide scientific projects (Afghanistan, Bolivia, Chile-Easter Island, China, Ethiopia, Georgia, Jordan, Iraq, Italy, Lybia, Mongolia, Nepal, Noth Korea, Peru, Syria, Tunisia) mainly for the conservation of Cultural Heritages and extensively supporting International Institutions such as UNESCO, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), European Commission, European Environment Agency, International Consortium on Landslides where he is currently vice President (Kyoto, Japan) and other international bodies. He is currently adjunct Professor at the Huazong University for Science and Technology in Wuhan (China). Author and co-author of more than 300 publications and books.
