This commission based its work on a questionnaire widely distributed worldwide. Special attention was given to monuments included in the UNESCO world heritage catalogue. The commission, chaired by Vassilis Christaras, provided a well-illustrated record of sites, listed by country, including technical descriptions, engineering geologyaspects, stability risks, measures applied in appropriate cases and key reference papers.
